В кодексе есть раздел по снижению риска: "Производители и разработчики химических веществ: а) насколько это практически возможно, прилагают все разумные усилия для снижения риска... с) в соответствующих случаях прекращают производство и торговлю и отзывают продукцию, когда эта продукция сопряжена с наличием недопустимого риска... Промышленность стремится по возможности уменьшить количество используемцх опасных химических веществ...". Кодексом предусмотрены процедуры контроля за добровольным соблюдением заложенных в нем норм поведения.
