6) существительным без предлога: the laboratory evidence, weight loss, glucose tolerance, the prematurity incidence, etc.
Существительные без предлога в функции определения могут образовывать целые цепочки, основным (определяемым) является последнее существительное: blood serum factors, salt and water requirements, hormone production values, cause-and-effect relationships, etc.
В подобные цепочки могут входить и другие части речи: a ten-day trial, two anteroposterior airway diameters, mild to moderate degree hypertension, of raised albumin-excretion rates, a rapidly acting non-barbiturate general anaesthetic, etc.
Некоторые трудности возникают при определении границ подобных цепочек определений. Сигналом начала, как правило, служат определители существительного (см. выше); при их отсутствии перед цепочкой обычно находится глагол, который требует дополнения, либо эта цепочка выполняет функцию подлежащего.
