Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.

Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

  1. Loosen six bolts (132) evenly. Loosen each of the bolts by one revolution before proceeding to the next bolt until the spring pressure has been released. Remove six bolts (132) and the washers from balance piston (133) .

  1. Use two screwdrivers to remove clutch piston (131) and balance piston (133) from clutch housing (130) as a unit.

Note: Put identification marks on the location of balance piston (133) for installation purposes.

  1. Remove balance piston (133) from clutch piston (131) .

  1. Remove seal ring (134) from balance piston (133) .

  1. Remove ten springs (135) from clutch piston (131) .

  1. Position clutch piston (131), as shown.
  1. Remove seal ring (136) from the clutch piston.

  1. Use a screwdriver to remove retaining ring (137) from clutch housing (130) .

  1. Position clutch housing (130), as shown. The weight of clutch housing (130) is 45 kg (100 lb).
  1. Use Tooling (M) to remove ball bearing (138) from clutch housing (130).
  1. Remove two dowels (139) from clutch housing (130) .

  1. Remove two bolts (140) and the washers in order to remove tube assembly (141) from manifold assembly (142) .

  1. Install Tooling (B) to manifold assembly (142). Attach Tooling (B) to a suitable lifting device and a hoist.
  1. Remove 16 bolts (144) and the washers.
  1. Use Tooling (B) and the hoist to remove manifold assembly (142), ring carrier assembly (143) and clutch housing (145) from the shaft assembly as a unit. The weight of manifold assembly (142), ring carrier assembly (143) and clutch housing (145) as a unit is 113 kg (250 lb).

  1. Remove three seal rings (146) and seal ring (147) from ring carrier assembly (144) .
