n Detect the output optical power, communicate with the main control board and NM system through the mailbox, report board alarms and performance events, receive the setting commands sent from NM and display the alarms by indicators.
n Perform remote on-line loading of board software.
3. Application
n At the transmitting end of the open equipment, M32 multiplexes the 32 optical signals from optical wavelength conversion boards at transmitting ends into one optical fiber for transmission; while at the transmitting end of the integrated equipment, M32 multiplexes the optical signals from 32 SDH equipment into one optical fiber for transmission. The output signals are sent to WBA input optical interface for optical power amplification of the main channel.
n M32 can be inserted in 4~13 board positions of OptiX BWS 320G subrack.
n The optical connector on M32 board handle bar is of SC type.
n The spectrum of the main channel can be monitored through the "MON" optical interface on M32 handle bar, the output optical power of "MON" optical interface is 1/10 of the output optical power of "OUT" optical interface.

3.2.2 32-Channel Demultiplexing Unit
1. Principle
D32 board refers to the 32-channel demultiplexing Unit. According to the module functions, it mainly consists of the optical module and electrical module. The optical module consists of one 32-channel optical demultiplexer and two 10: 90 couplers; it accomplishes the demultiplexing of the 32 wavelength channels and provides on-line optical monitoring interfaces. The optical demultiplexer is an AWG-type device and temperature control is required. The electrical module mainly consists of three parts: temperature control circuit of the demultiplexer, optical power detecting circuit and mailbox communication circuit. So the electrical module has the following functions: keep a constant demultiplexer temperature, detect the optical power and send out alarm, and communicate with the SCC board. The principle block diagram of D32 board is shown in Figure 3-10.
