General tools

Tools for measurement and lineation

Long tape measure, ruler (1 meter), gradienter, marking pen, powder marker, pencil

Percussion drill, accessory drill bits, vacuum cleaner (1 PCS)

Tools for fastening

Straight screwdriver, cross screwdriver, socket wrench (M 5), ring spanner (M 6), double ring spanner or open-end wrench (10–12 metric)

Locksmith tools

Sharp-nose pliers, diagonal pliers, pincer pliers, electric hand drill, file, hand saw, crowbar, rubber hammer

Auxiliary tools

Brush, nippers, paper knife, hand bellows, electric iron, solder wire, prong, ladder

Multimeter, 500 V Meg-ohmmeter (for measuring insulation resistance), earth resistance tester, BER tester, optical power meter, SDH analyzer

All instruments should be tested and calibrated before use.

1.3.3  Checking the Environment and Grounding

1.  Equipment Room Environment

Good room environment is the key for stable operation of the transmission equipment. To avoid hidden troubles in the installation and the future operation and maintenance, read “Appendix A Operation Environment Requirements” carefully before the installation and improve the aspects that do not meet the requirements.

2.  Grounding

Proper grounding is of vital importance to the transmission equipment in avoiding lightning strike and resisting interference. To avoid hidden troubles in the installation and the future operation and maintenance, read “Appendix B Grounding” carefully before the installation and improve the aspects that do not meet the requirements. Check the grounding conditions of the installation site and ground the equipment properly according to the actual situation.

1.4  Unpacking Cabinet

This section guides you in unpacking cabinet. Sameness, unpack other cases in the same way.

  Danger:

Since the cabinet is rather heavy, erecting the cabinet improperly may cause personal injuries.

  Warning:

During the transportation and handling of products, spare parts or components, make sure to avoid the collision of such things against doors, walls or shelves.

To avoid equipment damage in the course of moving, move the packing box to the equipment room or a place near the equipment room before unpacking.

In the process of transporting, handling and installing the equipment, it is forbidden to reach the uncoated metal surface of equipment parts or components with sweaty or dirty gloves.

  Warning:

When handling the cabinet, both hands should hold on the solid places such as the base, the upper cable rack or bone frame, do not apply too much force on such places with poor rigidity as cable support, cable fixing beam, so as to avoid any damage to the cabinet or any accident. Remove the lining board of the rack at the place where the cabinet is to be installed; otherwise, the signal lines and boards may be damaged during transportation or handling.
