(1) Marketing Manager
(2) CM and Change Management
(3) Support Engineering,
(4) Inventory Management
(5) Maintenance and Feedback
The importance of Marketing was re-confirmed – we should aim to double the number of sponsors, especially in US and rest of Europe. The Marketing Group (above) will look for candidates as marketing manager.
Nigel Newling reminded the meeting of the urgent need to identify project resources (a critical path item). The current situation is as follows:
Saab - expect to offer several active workshop participants, rather than one man. Have a CM practitioner and experience on Operational Feedback. Also have Tech Pubs expertise.
Boeing – expect to be involved in all four areas but earliest manpower availability is next year.
Lockheed – Vought Systems have staff available to contribute to Support Engineering (SE), IM and Maintenance & Feedback.
RR - SE and Maintenance are main targets. Some expertise on IM.
DNV/No - Have one person in SE (could lead). Can contribute on CM.
NATO CALS – Have experience with SE, IM and Maintenance (from NCDM and Operational Logistics work). NATO Organisations and Nations linked to NATO CALS may offer additional resources to specific workshops, but this will be difficult to forecast in advance.
LSC - want to keep a broad involvement - "PLCS is our business!" Can contribute to the Integration Task.
UK MoD - Still debating on whether to offer a Team Leader or multiple inputs. May have difficulty/delay in filling the posts (uncertainty as to start date and location is aggravating this).
MES - Expect to offer Team Leader for either CM (first choice) or SE. There are practical difficulties in releasing real experts on full time basis. MES also want to stay in touch with all activities.
FMV - Expect to offer 1 person for Inventory management 25%-50% time. Jarl Magnusson for Marketing 25% and a CM specialist (software) 25%. Plus support to WGs.
DoD - Not detailed. Not looking for team leaders. Lots of experience in all area - willing to fill where needed by calling staff from the Services.
EPM & FAIR are not expecting to offer Team Leaders. They can contribute tools and pilots and implementation feedback .
Airbus - have broad expertise. Yet to decide where to focus their effort
BAe - Have identified a main resource (Steve Topping) - have broad expertise in other areas.
ACTION 3.11 (by May 14): All sponsors (and potential sponsors) to provide letters outlining their plans for providing specific resources, named where possible, with time scales for starting work. The time scale for future build-up of resources is also requested, as basis for detailed planning of Year 1 work by the SUWG.
Howard Mason presented the TDP. The Set Up Working Group had already concluded (on Friday) that there was a need to develop a Year 1 Work Plan to show how and by whom the work would be done. Comments on the TDP were as follows:
· The timeframe for completing the “solution architecture” (first year) still looks ambitious, noting the requirement to build up resources and to negotiate agreements with many other STEP projects.
· The TDP needs a line for completing the STR.
· No specific task/time is identified for integration. Can the AAM development really be accomplished in parallel without time for integration and reconciliation?
· Item 31 - missing link - data planning model jumps directly into Interpretation. Where is the full data model (ARM) actually created? No line is shown for second iteration/refinement of data model.
· There is good knowledge of the data set relating to CM and SE but less experience with Maintenance and Operational Feedback. These areas may prove more time consuming than planned
