Причастие (Participle). Формы причастия действительного и страдательного залога

PARTICIPLE

Причастие в английском языке представляет собой неличную глагольную форму, которая наряду со свойствами глагола имеет свойства прилагательного или наречия.

Обладая свойствами прилагательного, причастие служит определением к существительному. В этой функции оно соответствует русскому причастию.

A broken cup was on the table. – Разбитая чашка лежала на столе.

Обладая свойствами наречия, причастие служит обстоятельством, определяющим действие, выраженное сказуемым. В этой функции оно соответствует русскому деепричастию.

Hesatatthetablethinking. – Он сидел за столом задумавшись.

Обладая свойствами глагола, причастие

a) может иметь дополнение:

Having signed the letter he asked me to send it off at once. – Подписавписьмо, онпопросилменяотправитьегосразуже.

б) может определяться наречием:

Having packed the things quickly, he hurried to the station. – Быстроупаковаввещи, онпоспешилнавокзал.

в) имеет формы времени и залога.

Глаголы имеют две формы причастия действительного залога и три формы причастия страдательного залога.

Perfect	having V-ing	Что сделав?	having been V-ing

Отрицательная частица not ставится перед причастием: not asking, not having asked.

Translate into Russian

1.  Having passed my competitive entrance examinations successfully I was admitted into the Institute.

2.  The doctors including a therapeutist, a neurologist and others had to examine me.

3.  I read the diagnosis written in my case history.

4.  Being on duty at the polyclinic, we got acquainted with our district doctor.

5.  Having been given the instructions, the nurse began her work.

6.  The woman being examined now is complaining of a sharp pain in the substernal area.

7.  He suffered from a severe pain radiating to his left arm and shoulder.

8.  Having indicated the dose to be taken on the label the chemist gave a bottle

I.Translate from English into Russian and name the form  of the participle:

III. Translate into English as present participle active.

2) врач, выписывающий рецепт; пациенты, проходящие курс лечения; участковый врач, принимающий больных; медсестра, ставящая банки; больной, выздоравливающий после болезни; медсестра, заполняющая карточку больного; ребенок, страдающий от болей в животе; женщина, болеющая гриппом; болезнь, вызывающая осложнения; медсестра, измеряющая кровяное давление.

IV.Change the sentences, using present participle active.

1.  The  people who wait for me in the corridor are my patients.

2.  As we had an appointment with the doctor for 10 o’clock we hurried to the polyclinic.

3.  As I felt rotten I called in our district doctor.

4.  Doctor Ivanov who works at this polyclinic is a very experienced doctor.

5.  As my son was ill with quinsy he had to gargle his throat 5 or 6 times a day.

6.  Registering clerk who is looking for this patient’s card is my friend.

7.  As the doctor was palpating my abdomen he asked me several questions.

8.  As you enter the dean’s office give your application to the woman who is sitting at the window.

9.    As I go in for sports I have to follow a strict diet.

10. As I am a student of this Medical college I must take some more additional subjects.
