L-D1.4 Drunken truck drivers

When the truck driver is drunk, either in the customs zone, after customs clearance or when the truck is to be unloaded, the following actions shall be done:

·  In case that the driver is found to be drunken – immediately he is required to stop driving

·  If the truck is urgent for the store, a sober colleague of the driver is asked to take the truck to the unloading gate. If the driver is alone, he is asked to wait until next day

·  In case it is found out that the driver has driven the truck drunken, or he is totally past out, the security is contacted and they will call the police

·  A formatted memo shall be filled in, either by IKEA Customs personnel or the Receiving Area personnel in the stores, with the following information:

-  Date

-  Drivers name

-  Transport company name

-  Truck number

-  Sending unit of the truck

-  Comment from IKEA personnel

-  Actions taken

·  An explanation from the driver shall be written, when he is sober enough

·  Copy of the CMR and explanation from the driver shall be filed in a binder in each respective department

·  The formatted memo shall be sent to the relevant IKEA responsibles for further informing the Transport Company, which has provided the truck and the driver. The relevant IKEA responsibles are stated in the table below:
