Of course, you enjoy doing something in your free time. Perhaps it is stamp collecting, because that is one of the most popular hobbies; it can be a great help in history, geography and some other subjects.

Some people like to photograph. Other hobbies are collecting coins, beautiful stones, books, post-cards, etc.

If you are interested in music, you may begin collecting tape recordings of operas, folk-music or jazz concerts.

Well, it is very difficult to describe all the hobbies known in the world. The main thing is that all of them must be useful and help your cultural development. Choose an interesting hobby and enjoy it.

22-Answer the questions:

l.What is your hobby? 2.When did you first become interested in this hobby? 3.What does it give you? 4.What do your groupmates collect? 5.How many friends of yours are interested in photographs? 6.What do they photograph?

23.Read the conversations about hobbies. Make up your own.

1.-What is your hobby. Henry?

-It's collecting old books. There are already six hundred of them in my library

-Do you read them all?

-Well, yes, but reading is not important. It is the process of collecting them itself that interests me.

2.-Do you think Jill will come to the party tonight?

-Certainly. She is crazy about dancing,

-Do you mean to say dancing is her hobby?

-Oh, yes. She dances well and she would dance day and night.

3.-1've got some extra postage stamps to exchange.

-What series?

-It's a special series of British authors.

-Oh, those stamps must be very interesting, but unfortunately they're out my line. I collect only the stamps of African states.

4.-Why didn't you attend the sitting of the „Skillful Hands" circle yesterday? Didn't you know about it?

-Yes, 1 did. But there was a rehearsal of the amateur drama at the same time. 36

We're producing a play for our party.

Is amateur theatricals also your hobby?

Yes, it is. And I take to needlework, too. I'm „Jack of all trades" (мастерна

все руки), you know.

5.-A good radio set, isn't it?

-Not bad. Where did you get it from?

-I assembled it myself.

-Yourself, you say? And nobody helped you?

-Well, in fact I was given a hand from my friends, members of the radio club.

6.-Is angling still your hobby?

-Yes, surely. I never get sick of this pastime. I made a point (взял за правило) of spending a few hours on the river every weekend.

-And catch anything?

-Well, it depends. Last Sunday, for example, I caught so many fish that Mother could cook a delicious fish course for the whole family.
