Note Provide V-16.2Je with BA, provide U-16.2Je with BA and PA, provide L-64.2b with BA, and provide V-64.2b with BA, PA and DCU.

One SDH optical interface board provides different optical transmitting modules for different transmission distances. The board should be selected according to the distance and attenuation between nodes during networking, to avoid the receiver optical power below the receiver sensitivity or overload.

In a long-haul transmission, configure the optical amplifier boards such as BA2, BPA and DCU based on the transmission distance.

3.  Paired Slot Requirement

When using the SDH board to configure the MSP ring, the two boards composing one ring should be inserted into the paired slots, as shown in Table A-5.

If it is the multiplex section shared optical path protection, then the two boards composing a ring need not to be inserted into the paired slots.

Refer to section A.4.5 “Configuration Requirements of Shared Optical Path MSP” for the configuration of multiplex section shared optical path protection.

Generally, the optical amplifier boards (BA2, BPA) and dispersion compensation unit (DCU) are used together with the long-haul optical transmitting module to support long distance transmission without regeneration. Here are the configuration requirements of the optical amplifier board:

n  Configure BA2 for the optical transmitting module with the optical interface type being V-16.2Je.

n  Configure BA2 and BPA for the optical transmitting module with the optical interface type being U-16.2Je.

n  Configure BA, PA and DCU for the optical transmitting module with the optical interface type being V-64.2b. If the transmission distance ranges from 70 km to 105 km, select the DCU of 60 km; if the distance ranges from 105 km to 120 km, select the DCU of 80 km.

COA helps the OptiX OSN 3500 to realize signal transmission from 80 km to 200 km.
