3.2.1 SDH Interface Unit
The OptiX OSN 9500 provides SDH interfaces including STM-64, STM-16, STM-4, STM-1 optical interface and STM-1 electrical interface. Table 3-1 shows these boards and their indices.
The STM-64 synchronous optical interface unit receives/transmits one channel of STM-64 optical signals through the JL64 board. The maximum transmission distance of JL64 is 60 km. Combined with the JBA2/JBPA board and JDCU board, the JL64 board enables a repeaterless transmission distance of up to 120 km.
The STM-16 interface unit is realized by the JL16/JD16/JQ16/JO16 board which respectively access 1, 2, 4, 8-channel STM-16 optical signals.
The STM-4/STM-1 interface unit is realized by the JH41 board which accesses 16-channel STM-4 or STM-1 optical signals (STM-4 or STM-1 is configured as the actual requirement). The JLQ4 board can access 4-channel STM-4 optical signals, the JLH1 16-channel STM-1 optical signals, and JLHE board can access 16-channel STM-1 electrical signals.

3.2.2 Ethernet Interface Unit
The OptiX OSN 9500 provides the GE06 board for Gigabit Ethernet signal processing. It supports link access procedure-SDH (LAPS), point-to-point protocol (PPP) and generic framing procedure (GFP) protocols, and supports Ethernet transparent transmission and point-to-point service connection. This unit features the following functions:
n Accesses six channels of Gigabit Ethernet (GE) signals.
n Supports transmission mode of 1000BASE-LX/1000BASE-SX.
n Supports point-to-point Ethernet transparent transmission of GE-to-GE service.
n Controls the data flow.
n Supports PPP, LAPS (X.85 or X.86) and GFP-F framing protocol.
