On the whole, teaching makes great demands on a person who takes up this profession. The teacher wields immense power over the students. In some cases a decisive life impact can be exerted upon the students. The teacher’s personality may be both a vast encouragement to study and, the other way round, a cause of despair in some subject. Respectively, it imposes a massive responsibility upon a teacher. Being resilient, sympathetic, intelligent, interesting, the list of the qualities desirable in the teacher is nearly internal. For sure, the teacher communicates with many people, carries out dozen of functions, and which is more significant, affects people in the age when they’re most susceptible to anything new. So can one overestimate the teacher’s power? I don’t think so.
So once everyone happens to go to school for the first time. Apparently, it’s a colossal stress for any child. The teacher is the one who helps a child overcome the anxiety about such a radical change in his\her life, get used to it. So, no wonder we have an image of a he first teacher as a kind mentor, to some extent, a substitute for our parents.
As the time marcher, the teacher proceeds to bring up and educate the children. Who plays a more important role in a human being’s life apart from the parents? I think nobody. The teacher influences the children’s views and the world outlook, but the curious thing is the teacher himself is influenced by the profession. He\she is demanding and tends to preach at people a long way off outside the school.
So, when the pupil is virtually an adult, the teacher may produce a decisive impact on his\her future career, and consequently, life. Every piece of praise or criticism may lift a pupil high or down, affect his\her mood and even self-confidence. No wonder, within such a prodigious power there are some restrictions what a teacher should do and what shouldn’t.
So everyone likes to be praised. A good teacher will always find a small trifle, due to which a student can be praised. It is the key to establish good relationships with the students. Besides, it hugely motivates to study. So such a peanut is about to result in good academic results. So I guess a teacher is really satisfied when he\she sees the students improve, so setting high academic standards is a must, however one shouldn’t demand beyond the pupil’s abilities. A teacher should be tolerant and sympathetic for the frailty and vulnerability of immature soles, but not in case the breaches of discipline take place. The ability to be on top of the class is critical for a teacher, but I wonder if many teachers are able to encourage good disciplinary habits, maintain the order in the classroom, be efficient in execution. In case this condition isn’t carried out, there will be just no result which brings the teacher’s work to naught.
However, teaching can’t deal without students, the teacher is impudent to keep up to date with the subject matter and stay mentally alert. Profound preparations for the lesson should take place. As the time marches this activity may become a routine concern and result in a repetitive pattern of teaching. It’s the teacher’s duty to enliven the lesson to make sure the pupils don’t tend to fall asleep attending it. And the widely-spoken sense of moral achievement can be accomplished only while sticking to this very important rule. Moreover, all kind of staff can happen at a lesson, so the teacher should be ready to adapt his\herself to any situation.
As far as the taboos of teaching are concerned, they are quite relevant for any well-brought up person. So needless to say a teacher must nev er put scorn on a people or attack his\her character. Quite, the contrary it’s the teacher’s duty to foster and encourage a student to the good.
So isn’t it a challenge to combine all the above mentioned traits and characteristics in a one person? The one possessing all of them could be surely called an ideal teacher. Though nobody’s a plaster saint, the teacher is a real example to take after. It’s unfortunate, that the profession isn’t prestigious at all. Nevertheless, the teachers get a hard job of bringing up the new generation done. It is a difficult, but essential profession that deserves a lot more admiration.
