Undoubtedly, teaching isn’t an easy job. On the contrary, it’s quite demanding and challenging. Teaching requires plenty of specific personal traits. This job makes great demands on a person’s nervous energy. So it puts a great strain on a man on the whole. Furthermore, it’s neither lucrative, nor glamorous. Consequently one can ask a question why people go in for teaching. Let’s try to discover.

For many centuries the teacher’s profession was extremely prestigious as it meant that the person is well-educated and intelligent. Lots of things have changed since then. Now we may see unbelievably low passing grades for teaching specialists. So it would be unwise to say that the profession embraces only positive or negative sides. In fact, it is very relative and completely depends on particular expectations of each man. So, those who’ve been in this line for a while claim that the overall impression of their job is positive and may shine down all the cons. I may just add that as well as many other things the issue of being satisfied with the job you do or not depends on the attitude to it.

Well, the teacher’s profession has plenty of advantages as well as disadvantages. The most disturbing minus of this work is the impendency to do a lot of extra-curricular work. Filling in a lot of unnecessary papers is bothering and seems like a complete waste of time.

In general, a teacher’s profession is quite demanding, especially in its initial stage. So one has to be careful in preparations for the lesson. As the time marches this activity may become a routine concern and result in a repetitive pattern of teaching, which isn’t good. It’s the teacher’s duty to enliven the lesson to make sure the pupils don’t tend to fall asleep attending it. And the widely-spoken sense of moral achievement can be accomplished only while sticking to this very important rule. The ability to be on top of the class is critical for a teacher, but I wonder if many teachers are able to encourage good disciplinary habits, maintain the order in the classroom, be efficient in execution. In case this condition isn’t carried out, there will be just no result which brings the teacher’s work to naught. However, one should be quite careful establishing a businesslike atmosphere, as if a teacher happens to squash the pupil’s motivation to study, such an occasion might have a determinative impact on the human being’s life. I feel it would be a great challenge for everyone to be capable of fulfilling all the above mentioned necessities. Still, that’s not it. It’s also a very demanding job. In particular, when teaching a foreign language it’s essential to keep up to date with the subject matter. Moreover, all kind of staff can happen at a lesson, so the teacher should be ready to adapt his\herself to any situation. Sure, the satisfaction of the work can be acquired only if you see the students improving themselves and correspond to the high academic standards you had set.

All I’ve described confirms that teaching is a very requiring and tiresome job. And it’s up to everyone to decide on if all these are the pros or the cons, but as for me such a massive challenge is an essential condition of feeling satisfied with myself.
