HOLIDAYS AND HOW TO SPEND THEM.
At the end of school year we look forward to summer holidays. They are a welcome change to the school routine. What a contrast it is to wake up without a nervous jolt (напряжение) , to feel the number of your responsibilities (ответственность) to mankind diminished (сократилось), and to be free, to enjoy your mental and physical space. After the rigours of the school year, you feel as happy as a lark - you have nearly 3 months of fun at your disposal. All of us take pains (стараемся) to make the best of our vacation, if it is failure (получится неудачно), we feel sad and cross ( разбито).
Most people like a change of scene. If they live up country, they like to go to a big town and spend there free time looking at shops and visiting cinemas, theatres, museums and picture galleries; if they are cite-dwellers, they usually enjoy a quiet holiday in the hills or by the sea with nothing to do but walk, bath and laze in the sun. But such changes of scene are expensive nowadays and many people from lack of money, are obliged (вынуждены) to spend their vacation in the same surroundings as their working days.
If you can’t afford long, expensive tour, a short stay in the country, a fortnight package tour, work in the garden, walks in the forest can be of great help that you choose some form of occupation entirely ( полностью) different from your daily avocation. You will never regret it, as you are sure to enjoy every minute of it.
Most people detest (отвергают) the idea of spending a holiday with hundreds of other people. There’s no denying that they get tired of the bustle and hustle of a big city and they usually long (скучают) for a quite rest in a lovely place off the beaten track. For others, there’s nothing like active rest. Such holiday-makers don’t mind crowded beaches, noisy streets with heavy traffic, a lot of sight seeing. They never feel tired of sharing there impressions with others. For them, the whole point of a holiday is that it should be a change. Holidays are good for us, because they provide (приносят) us with new interests, new outlets of our energies, a break from work, a charge to rest. We benefit from fruitful holidays and feel a deep regret (сожаление) when they come to an end and we have to come back to our desks. All the holidays are temporary – it makes us value them all the more. No matter, how long or short our holidays are, we feel refreshed physically and mental, and we ready to tackle ( взяться за дело) with new vim and vigour (энергией и силой) many important tasks that lie ahead.
Good bye, holidays! Hello, school!
