"Pride and Prejudice" - the second film version of the novel (the first was filmed in the U.S. in 1940), but this work was transferred five times to a TV.
England, 18th Century. The film begins with Mr Bingley, a wealthy young bachelor, moving into Netherfield Park in the neighbourhood of the Bennet family (who live at Longbourne). Mr Bingley is soon well-received, while his friend Mr Darcy makes a less favourable first impression by appearing proud and condescending. When Elizabeth Bennet overhears herself slighted by Mr Darcy, she forms a prejudice against him. Mr Bingley singles out Elizabeth's elder sister, Jane, for particular attention and it soon becomes apparent that they have formed an attachment to one another.
The next meeting with Mr. Bingley Bennet family is at the ball, where Neserfield’s gentleman arrives, accompanied by his sisters (Miss Bingley and Mrs. Hurst), as well as Mr. Darcy and Mr. Hirst. At first, Mr. Darcy makes a favorable impression on others because his annual income is more than 10 thousand pounds. However, they changed his point of view, thinking that he is too "important and inflated," because young people do not want anyone to see and dance at the ball with only two ladies (sisters Bingley). Bingley has a huge success. His particular interest is the eldest daughter of Bennett, Jane. The girl also falls in love with a young man. Mr. Darcy begins to show interest to Elizabeth, second daughter of Mr. Bennet, but she feels dislike for him because of his excessive pride and vanity.
On paying a visit to Mr Bingley's sister, Jane is caught in a heavy downpour, catches cold and is forced to stay at Netherfield for several days. Elizabeth arrives to nurse her sister and is thrown into frequent company with Mr Darcy who begins to perceive his attachment to her.
Then headstrong Elizabeth meets with a beautiful and arrogant Mr. Darcy, and ignite serious opposition between them, that can lead to love, and hate…
It’s bitter to realize what it was, is and will be (это было, есть и будет) - money problems. Understandable feelings of parents (especially mothers) of children's prosperous future, but do not forget about the great feeling in the world - love.
Actors are chosen perfectly. The film is shot quality, there are beautiful landscapes, sculptures, music scores, dresses ... This film is impossible to watch without tears. Spellbinding nature of England helps to understand the feelings of the characters. I can say that nature is one of the main characters of the novel. For example, when there was a strong storm, wind, rain and lightning, Darcy and Elizabeth confessed love for each other. This moment will leave no one indifferent.
Undoubtedly, every film has own drawbacks. And this film is no exception. Kira Nightly plays a title role, Elizabeth. She focuses on comic moments, it causes a response in the hall of audience laughter, but it looks rough, because the narrative style of Austin, author of the novel, imbued with a subtle irony. Suitable for the role Keira Knightley has currently too modern behavior on the screen, embodying a different character than the one that has been carefully written out of British novelist two centuries ago.
Another oddity is the image of Elizabeth. Clothing makes one think: does the general director know a lot about the fashion of those times? It seems to me that the girl with the Keira Knightley complexion at the time could hardly sane someone falls in love. Still, the portraits of beauties of the 19th century show us women are not skinny, but complete.
I think this movie should look who delighted the romantic stories. It is a classic melodrama. This is an unrealistic love story of two independent and proud people, but beautiful and gentle. A picture supplements Marianelli music.
