Choosing a profession, factors.

From time to time we all tend to dream. The most common dream is connected with prosperity. So the only way to provide you for a living is to work. Job occupies the major part of our time, and lucky are those who take up the line they’re cut out for. So choosing the right profession makes our life significantly better, still it is a very difficult alternative that everyone faces up earlier or later. The most awkward thing of it is that we are aware that every tiny mistake when choosing a career can prevent us from fulfiling ourselves in life. It cannot but creates some strain, not everyone can deal with. We all anticipate to make the right choice, but in fact it’s impossible, as life is unpredictable. Few people are predetermined to live up to their childish expectations, realize aspirations and get on in life really well. However, such ones exist. But no one knows the key to a success for sure. Still, there are several pieces of advice which seem appropriate for those who are thinking of their careers.

Making the first step is the most confusing part. Firstly, you have to find out what your line is. Some from the very childhood know what they are cut out for, somebody’s future profession arises from a hobby – it all makes no problem. But all the rest have nothing but hesitate. Certainly, you can figure out and analyze all your personal qualities, abilities, interests and values, but you’ll never be 110% sure. Basically, the career choosing determination depends on what you actually want to get from your job. There are plenty of factors which I would lean on, here come some of them:

1.  Money. No wonder, it takes the 1st place, as it’s the purpose of going to work. A lucrative job is a perfect job.

2.  Moral satisfaction. Makes no sense doing what you don’t like. Firstly the job will get you down, secondly, you won’t be able to yield a competitive output, and thus, you won’t be well-paid.

3.  Feeling that the job you do is your vocation. It might seem pretty alike to the previous point, but as for me it isn’t. Only if I know I’m making the world better I’ll be able to do my best.

After all, there are several marginal factors which I can’t but mention. So the job should also be

a)  Challenging, as when you are stuck in a rut you often become depressed.

b)  Glamorous, as we all pay attention to other’s people opinions.

c)  Working setting should also be good.

One could also count different social perks, flexible ours, steady job, working with or without people, but as for me these factors are minor and basically stem from the first three.

The 2nd step involves making sure you measure up to the chosen career. It actually refers to your knowledge and personal traits. They may not correspond to the necessary level, and then you start working hard on them, developing yourself. Obviously this thorny path demands a lot of commitment and diligence, but that’s the only way to accomplish your dream.

So choosing a profession is an essential decision. Moreover it’s a crucial one. Though it’s never late to change it, when coming to it one should be conscious and aware of the consequences. It’s often the first independent decision, which gravity can hardly be evaluated.
