Разрыв  связи   происходит  в  результате   ослабления   связи   между  3  и  4   атомами углерода.

Таким  образом, заканчивается   первый  этап  гликолиза, связанный   с  вкладыванием   энергии   в  процесс  активации  субстратов, при   этом   расходуется  2   молекулы     АТФ.

Эта   стадия   гликолитической   оксидоредукции    управляется  НАД  и   НАД * Н + Н. Повышение  НАД   и  снижение  НАД * Н + Н  активирует   данную  реакцию   и   наоборот.
